Founded in 1979 by choreographer Liz Lerman and others as a quiet rural retreat for choreographers, Workspace for Choreographers operates from a converted dairy barn in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Virginia. The residency hosts small cohorts of choreographers for one- to two-week stays with studio space, simple housing, and the kind of distance from city life that makes new work possible.
