Founded in 1995 by Linda Pace, ArtPace runs an international residency that hosts nine artists per year — three per session, three sessions annually — typically a Texas artist, a US artist from outside Texas, and an international artist. Each session is curated by a different guest curator, who selects the cohort and produces a culminating exhibition in the downtown San Antonio gallery space. Residents get full production funding (one of the most generous of any US program), private studio and apartment, and a stipend. The curated-cohort model and guest-curator structure makes ArtPace stand apart from peer programs.
