Kala Art Institute in Berkeley provides subsidized and fully funded fellowship residencies centered on an 8,000 sq ft print studio with 24/7 access to printmaking, digital lab, black and white darkroom, sculpture and textiles lab (kiln, wood shop, sewing machines), and exhibition opportunities in the Kala Gallery. The competitive Fellowship Program awards six artists a $3,000 stipend and one to nine months of residency; one month of housing is included for artists from outside the Bay Area. The subsidized Artist-in-Residence program offers 2- to 3.5-week stays. A dedicated Veterans Artist Residency ($1,000 cash award) is also available. Application deadline March 1 annually.
