Founded in 1973 by choreographer Patricia Nanon on Martha's Vineyard, The Yard is a dance and performance residency that hosts choreographers and dance companies for two- to four-week creation residencies. The program includes rehearsal studio, housing in a six-cabin compound, technical support for in-process showings, and a small honorarium. Summer brings public performances and a busy schedule of dance programming; off-season residencies are quieter, with more uninterrupted studio time.
