Located in Tamale, the capital of Ghana's Northern Region, the Sylt Foundation runs a residency program that connects international artists with the rich artistic traditions of northern Ghana — including smock weaving, pottery, and mural painting. Residencies of 4–8 weeks include a private studio, accommodation in the foundation's guesthouse, and introductions to local artisan communities. The remote, predominantly Muslim northern Ghana location offers a radically different context from the better-known Accra art scene.
