Hermitage Artist Retreat

The Hermitage occupies a cluster of restored historic beachfront cottages on Manasota Key, a barrier island on Florida's Gulf Coast. Founded in 2003 by Bruce Rodgers and now under the direction of Andy Sandberg, the program hosts roughly 90 artists per year for short residencies of two to six weeks, by invitation. Disciplines include playwrights, composers, visual artists, writers, and interdisciplinary practitioners. Modest stipend, private cottage, beach access; programming emphasizes new work and includes a curated calendar of public events on the property.
